About

JB Sloan

Chief Product Officer & Founding Partner at NuArca. 20+ years building financial services technology at the intersection of regulation, risk, and emerging tech.

The Story

From Compliance Software to Agentic AI

I've spent my entire career at the intersection where technology meets financial regulation — a narrow, unglamorous, and enormously consequential space. Banks and financial institutions are obligated to comply with hundreds of overlapping regulations, and the software that helps them do that has been slow, expensive, and stubbornly resistant to modernization. That's the problem I've spent 20 years learning, and the last seven years building a solution for.

Current Work

Building the AI Compliance Operating System

At NuArca, I co-founded and lead the product NuComply — an LLM-powered compliance operating system for community banks. We went from zero to nine live customers and $200K ARR in just over a year, earning a Chartis RiskTech Best-of-Breed designation along the way.

Now we're evolving NuComply into a full Agentic AI Compliance OS: orchestrator agents that coordinate compliance workflows, task-specific agents that handle BSA/SAR review, flood certification, KYC/CIP, TILA/RESPA testing, HMDA edits, policy management, and more. The long-term vision is replacing a suite of legacy compliance software products with a unified, AI-native operating system.

Beyond Work

Community & Family

I live in West Newton, MA with my family. Outside of work, I'm on the board of the West Newton Cinema Foundation, a nonprofit that acquired and operates one of the oldest independent cinemas in Massachusetts. I lead the programming committee — curating panel discussions, director spotlights, and community events that connect film with the people who make it. We helped secure a $5.2M anonymous donation for the theater acquisition and drove 50% ticket sales growth in our first year as a nonprofit.
